![]() “I think part of the problem in our relationship was that we were a lot of other things, but I don’t know if we were ever friends-like peers, because I was young, and he was Richard Gere." Crawford later opened up to People about her marriage with Gere, explaining why she thinks it didn't work out, saying: Gere was 39 when he met a 22-year-old Cindy Crawford. Sadly, only four years later, the two would divorce, leaving many to wonder about the couple's age difference and whether it was a deciding factor in their split. Crawford has said it wasn't the wedding she "dreamed of" but their marriage worked for a while. Far from over-the-top, this small wedding only featured a few hand-picked guests of close friends and family members. Richard Gere (2017) (Steve Granitz/WireImage/GettyImages)Ĭome December 1991, the power couple chose to take a jet and fly to Las Vegas to wed, as shared by Daily Mail. All over the world, fans and media were just waiting to hear the good news. From magazine covers to enjoying the best events in NYC and LA, this exposure raised wedding questions. The two of them were one of Hollywood's power couples at the time. They both donned the most immaculate designs from across the globe as they conquered red carpet after red carpet. Soon after that, the couple was inseparable and blazed the hottest Hollywood scenes with paparazzi in tow. She would fall for the infectiously charming Gere and they'd continue dating for some time. Crawford was interviewed about how just "talking" led to more and more meetings and dates. Richard Gere And Cindy Crawford Richard Gere, Cindy Crawford (circa 1991) (Dave Benett/Getty Images)Īfter his early successful movies in the 1980s, Gere met supermodel Cindy Crawford, who would soon become his wife. Before going on to have children, he had a rather well-known and publicly watched romantic life. However, alongside his booming career, which experienced a second wind after he won a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy for Chicago, Gere's private life would also play a major role in his life. But it was his turn in 2002's Chicago that pushed him back into the limelight. The '90s would see Gere continue his leading man streak, appearing in the thriller Primal Fear, Runaway Bride, which saw him reunite with Julia Roberts, and I'm Not There. In that time, he would earn two Golden Globe nominations for his acting work. His first major role was actually in London in the musical Grease. He went on to receive a Theatre World Award in 1979 for his performance as a gay Holocaust victim in the play Bent before he began appearing mainly in movies. 1980's American Gigolowould propel him to fame before he'd go on to star in An Officer and a Gentleman, Internal Affairs, and the iconic Pretty Woman. Born on August 31, 1949, Gere got his acting start by appearing in theater productions in the late 60s and early 70s of the 20st century. Richard Gere is known for his charming ways, after all, he was one of Hollywood's leading heartthrobs in the '80s and '90s. And maybe by looking at it that way, we can help better define what it is we are actually talking about and what we are trying to achieve. ![]() So whether it's collaborating on a project, interacting with partners, processing a transaction or engaging customers, it's all about having the best possible experience and getting the best possible business results. So it's not just about the user, it's about the user and the organization and the business. And this goes beyond the concept of connecting with the right resource at the right time, to really using the most desirable or the most satisfactory tools in order to have the best user experience, again while achieving the desired goals. The goal is to optimize both the experience and the business results for both the user and the enterprise. The idea behind optimized communications is that communications should be optimized to allow workers, teams, customers to enhanced their business interactions in order to achieve their defined organizational or customer goals with their choice of endpoint devices while using the best or most convenient communication tools at any time. So we will probably be refining this and redefining it, but it's something to start with at least. I'm sure similar things will happen with the new term whether it's optimized communications, or something else, the vendors are going to redefine it in a way that makes the most sense for them. Each vendor took the term and defined it in a way that made the most sense for their particular offerings, and the term unified communications is kind of a misnomer since things really aren't unified. ![]() But it has been obvious for a long time that the term unified communications wasn't really working. I recently wrote a couple of articles about the next phase of UC which we are calling "Optimized Communications," and this is a brand new concept and we are certainly open to suggestions and comments about the naming and what it should represent.
